Arts & Crafts House
Our brief was to take the property back to a style more fitting of its period, providing a brighter, warmer yet more refined feel. Upstairs, walls were removed to create a luxurious master bedroom, with views to the garden on three sides. In addition to the wall-length wardrobes, a bespoke cabinet was designed for shoes, with églomisé glass and mirror door panels which overlaid the same fabric as for the curtains and blinds. The colour scheme carried through to the adjoining en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower underfloor heating.
For the ground floor, an elegant living room included a bespoke cabinet designed by us, with exquisite Chinoiserie painted églomisé mirror panels, which we commissioned for the client, handmade silk and wool rugs, bespoke sofas, and coffee tables, re-upholstered Antique chairs in contemporary velvets, put in a new fireplace with faux open-fire, and cabinets for storage and to conceal the television. We also assisted the client in sourcing and choosing Art works and ceramics from various Antique Fairs and Collectors.
We designed a handmade kitchen to reflect some notes of the period, putting in faux oak beams and an iron chandelier. Cabinets were made to hide a TV and laptop work station, a dedicated larder and the corner cupboard in the dining area to hide the boiler. New underfloor heating and radiators were installed to create a warmer dining area in front of the French doors looking out to the garden patio and beautiful garden beyond.
The landing, hall and stairs were uplit to enhance the handmade silk fabric wallpaper, and more sensitive lighting replaced existing throughout the house, including bespoke Italian chandeliers, elegant wall lights and more subtle dimmable warmer LED downlights.
The dark hall was made brighter by using mirror panels in doors, stripping the existing floor to make it lighter, and adding a stunning Contemporary Italian Chandelier. The small cloakroom off the hall was decorated with dramatic wallpaper on a peacock motif. We added cabinetry to hide the fuse box, Art Deco style wall lights above the bespoke vanity unit, silvered mirror panels above the sink and toilet, and an Art Nouveaux style radiator.
